the specialized 'dolce'

we did something fun today. we went and finagled a trade-in with fred at the bike shop and purchased for me, a roadbike! i am excited about this. it is fun to zoom around so fast and light. i have already realized i have many a thing to learn. even glancing over my shoulder or standing up to pedal nearly sends me wobbling out of control. what a completely different experience than a mountain bike.

matt was trading in his older rockhopper that he got before his freshman year at wsu. since we got my hardrock so that i could do some casual mountain trails with him, i was soon realizing that the purpose of my beefy mountain bike was soon going to be riding to summer classes, to work, and all over town because he would no longer have a bike to ride with me in the hills if we ever did find time for it. that leaves his downhill bike and his road bike. he's been road riding a ton lately for exercise and really starting to love it. so we thought hrmm... let's also trade in my hardrock with the rockhopper and put that towards a chick roadbike for me. the plan worked, fred bought it, and today i came home with a cute, quick bike custom fit just for moi.

i call the bikes in our garage our fleet. please understand we don't have this enormous amount of stuff for every single hobby we have. bikes are just my huz's passion and therefore demand different bikes for different sports. i just have to get that off my chest, seeing as how our garage has seen upwards of 4 bikes. i'm thrilled to see that we have paired down as well as enabled ourselves to roadbike together, thereby creating instantly more enjoyment. /smile
